Getting Married During COVID-19 Pandemic

Meet-Cute-scaled

Covid-19 pandemic has hit wedding industry badly, but as people are getting vaccinated and we have more weapons to fight against this pandemic we can also start planning small and middle-size gatherings. Many couples are now scheduling their weddings, booking services and the wedding planning coordination is starting again. However, we should consider that there is no “zero risk” event anymore, what we can do is to limit the risk and take all the necessary precautions.

One thing we know for sure: weddings will be different but we will keep creating unique experiences for our couples.

Here some useful tips if you are planning to get married in 2021 or 2022:

  • Try to opt for an outdoor venue, in case you choose an indoor venue make sure there is the right amount of windows for ventilation purposes and that it’s big enough based on the number of your guests.
  • Reduce the guest list and opt for a mid-size event instead of a big wedding.

  • Live-stream your wedding, for people who do not feel safe to come, people that you had to cut from the guests list for COVID reasons, or people who are doing a quarantine can be there with you.
  • Plan the seating arrangements smartly so that your guests will have the right security distance and there are no more than 8 people at each table. You might want to place at the same table people from the same household and do not mix people.
  • Use signals on the floor to make people aware of the distance they have to keep at the buffet table or at the bar. Try to personalize them based on your wedding theme.
  • Create one or two “sanitizing station” where your guests can find hand sanitizer and masks. Also place a basket with those items in each bathroom.

  • Encourage your guests and wedding suppliers to do a COVID-19 test 24 hours before the wedding. You can also make arrangements and pay them. Depending on the country a negative test could be mandatory to take part in indoor event.

  • Send your guests the safety protocols to follow few days before the event to make sure that everybody is on the same page and avoid misunderstandings.
  • After the wedding keep track of your guests and make sure to have all the contact numbers of guests and suppliers in case of unexpected COVID-19 cases.
  • Las but not least get yourself a wedding planner, you will really need it now.

A Fun Peru Destination Wedding

Katrina & Franc

Peru destination weddings can be so much fun! We had the pleasure to be part as wedding coordinators of a very special and entertained destination wedding in Paracas, a town located on the Peruvian central coast. It is about 3 hours car ride from Lima.

Paracas wedding

Bride and groom were looking for a relaxed wedding celebration with plenty of food and drinks, nothing too fancy, but something absolutely fun with a relaxed atmosphere for their guests. We tought about a beautiful Oceanfront venue in the area, with several open space options and fabulous grounds they could consider for their specia day.

The result was a stylish and fun wedding celebration in front of the Pacific Ocean, which blended the charme of Afro-Peruvian traditions and the modernity of Australian culture.

The ceremony setting was extremely simple, a foliage half-moon arch placed in one of the garden areas of the venue, rounded by tropical palms with the ocean right in front. We opted for wooden back chairs for the guests and little bougainvillea flower arrangements. Bestmen and bridesmaids, dressed up respectively in beige and tobacco tones, stand up at bride and groom’s sides. The sun was shining during the ceremony, the ocean breeze was quite intense, as well as the sound of the ocean’s waves…it was such a special moment for all.

Wedding ceremony

The reception was really fun! Fourteen rounded table with white tablecloths, delicate flower arrangements with few cream, white or malva flowers, wooden chairs set around a squared wooden dancefloor structure placed in front of the long bar. As backing for the bar, we used vintage lamps hung up on different levels. Wooden and cream tones fabric were the main characters for the reception. The lighting effect was beautiful at night, few bulb lines hung from the top of the dancefloor to all the reception area and few reflectors for the party.

DCIM100GOPROGOPR0333.JPG

Bride and groom opted for a champagne fountain, very popular in Australian weddings. They started pouring champagne into the glasses and people helped themselves from the tower. The entertainment part was also very important for bride and groom, they choose an Afro-dance show and cajon and zapateo show. The cajon is a traditional Peruvian percussion instrument, a sort of box-shaped played with the hands and fingers, used in Afro-Peruvian music, but currently used also in flamenco. Zapateo is a type of dance, also typical of the Afro-Peruvian culture, where dancers use their feet as percussion instruments. It is usually accompanied by the Peruvian cajon.

The party was so much fun, the dancefloor was so crowded and the guests danced until dawn.
This is definitely a great venue for outdoor wedding celebrations!

Elegant Destination Wedding Inspiration

beach wedding portada

Few weeks ago we had the opportunity to plan an elegant wedding in a charming oceanfront location nearby Lima and we felt in love with the decoration details. This wedding was all about flowers arrangements, flower centerpieces and a beautiful flower and foliage arch for the ceremony. The stunning venue did its part too, since all these elements combined with the location made everything even more perfect. Here I want to give you an idea of how the decoration details bride and groom choose really made a difference in creating the atmosphere they were looking for.

When I received the call from the couple, I immediately understood that they were looking for a special location and this is really one of a kind. That is why I proposed them this beautiful oceanfront villa with romans architecture pieces, a little pool and a beautiful garden area. I also understood they were looking for an elegant wedding with a Peruvian touch, so me and my team tried heard to propose them little but meaningful decoration details.

First, the charming and elegant arch! This was a super fluffy arch with foliage and flowers as ceremony backing. It was a great choice to have the ceremony in the evening under a beautiful sunset. The sunset light combined with the arch really created an outstanding atmosphere for unforgettable photos.

As I said above, this wedding was all about flowers. Apart from the arch, the beautiful flower arrangements at the center of the buffet table added an elegant touch to the wedding reception.

The bar was one of a kind with the beautiful eucalypt foliage backing, highlighted by hanging light bulbs. At the side of the bar we placed two big flower arrangements, to create a perfect symmetryThe effect was very elegant and romantic.

Another beautiful decoration detail was the ceiling of the tent, which mixes foliage dangling lianas with ivory fabric.

The table set up was very elegant, with a beautiful white, ivory and light pink roses with foliage, white tablecloth and crystal dishes with golden border. The chairs chosen for the reception were golden tiffany chairs with white cushions.

The tree in the reception area was decorated with hanging jars with white candles, another elegant touch.

On the wooden table for the sweets we placed a huge flower arrangement in ivory, light pink tones with foliage with truffle towers and little traditional Peruvian sweets.

Romantic Wedding in The Sacred Valley

Peru detination wedding

A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to be part of a very special wedding celebration in the heart of the Sacred Valley. The venue of the event is one of the best places in the Sacred Valley, has a colonial architectural structure, and stunning Andean mountains around it. The Ceremony area was in a charming garden with a grand tree in the background.  We absolutely loved the ambiance as it was so romantic and beautiful.  The guests were truly amazed by the view and the intricate details of the whole event.

Wedding in Sacred Valley
Selecting the perfect venue for this couple was just the beginning.  We made sure that all details planned ahead of time were included. When planning a wedding with a couple that has never seen their venue in person, the most important thing is that we recreate the perfect setting and even more important recreate their expected dreams for decoration and make sure that every little detail was considered. The theme for this wedding was romantic and dreamy, so we chose an outdoor ceremony in a flower-filled garden.  To enhance the experience, the outdoor ceremony also included a tent or “huppah” with flower details that combined with the bride’s bouquet and the wedding’s color palette.

Wedding in Cusco
For the reception, the Bride and groom opted for rustic-chic decoration paired with vibrant color centerpieces with red, yellow and orange roses. The centerpieces were arranged using a natural style, like a garden with foliage in a gold vase. The ceiling had a beautiful white tent paired with gold string of lights.  The bar was made of wood simply decorated with light and flowers in a vase.

Wedding cake
For many couples, the wedding cake is an essential part of the wedding celebration. The use of colors is definitely a new trend for wedding cakes. For this wedding, the cake was very important, the couple chose a 2-tier cake covered by fondant and it was hand-painted with gold touches. The cake was placed on the dessert table on top of a wooden base and surrounded by orange flowers.

Wedding bouquet

The bride´s bouquet was lovely! The bride opted for an airy bouquet with orange roses of different sizes and green touches of nature, all perfectly assembled. Many times, the flowers in the bouquet define the centerpieces and this was the case in this wedding.  Everything had a delicate balance and looked great.

wedding reception in Peru cusco
Overall, I really enjoyed the planning process for this wedding, looking into all the details, the decorations, the lighting, the romantic style of the wedding. The Bride, groom and all the guests really enjoyed their time in Peru and I am sure they went back home with some great memories.

Details you Cannot miss while Planning your Wedding

wedding planning 2

We are used to talk about wedding etiquette a lot in reference on what you should do and what you shouldn’t during your wedding planning process. We all know that planning a wedding is a big, let’s say huge, thing! And sometimes leaving apart some details can definitely happen. That is why we are here! We will provide you with a complete list of little details that you shouldn’t miss while planning your wedding, think about this as a wedding essential little details checklist, a part from the big items such as decoration, flowers, cake, church, priest or officiant, this is a very imporant list of details you should take in account.

wedding planner

It often happens that between a wedding cake tasting, the wedding dress shopping, the venue hunting, you can miss the little things. Never forget that in weddings every detail counts! And your guests will definitely appreciate it! Let’s be honest your guests can also be judgemental when it comes to weddings, they will compare your wedding with theirs (if married), they will look into the details and they notice if there is something missing or something wrong … this is part of the game guys. So better be prepared!

  • Escort Cards: it is important that every guest has his own escort card, never forget to include one of your guest. Go through the complete list of invitees hundred times if necessary, check that all the guests’ names are spelled correctly and that they are assigned to the right table. Also, try to design escort cards in line with your wedding color palette and put them at the reception entrance. They need to be easy to find and the tables chart needs to be self-explanatory. You do not want that your guests get frustrated while looking for their escort cards.

scort card for weddingCredits: Lara Momentos

  • Wedding website: nowadays it is essential to have a wedding website. It has to be useful for your guests in terms of including wedding ceremony/reception venue address, the wedding exact timeschedule, the dresscode if any, and any relevant information. In this article you will find all you need to know to set the perfect wedding website: http://blog.sayidoinperu.com/tips-perfect-wedding-website/ Remember that if you are planning a destination wedding, the importance of the website actually increases, considering that here you can include travel tips and recommendations for your guests, flight and accommodation information, restaurants recommendations among others.

Wedding-webside

  • Nice favors: this is another important details! It is a way to let your guests know how thankful you are that they made it to your wedding! So choose nice favors, possibly in line with your wedding theme (if any), and put them on a nice table so that your guests can grab a favor before going away. It is very common today to opt for edible favors, such as a little bottle of wine, a little pot of jam or honey. Your guests they will definitely love it and use it!

Nice favors for weddings

  • Have a Plan B: this is essential especially for outdoor wedding. So have a well planned contigency plan in case of bad weather, your guests will not appreciate being outside under the rain for your wedding ceremony or reception. It would be awkward!

Wedding planning

  • Food allergies: check with your guests if they have any food allergy or if there is any vegetarian/vegan among them, so that you can arrange a special menu for them. Once you have this clear, provide a complete list tou your caterer, highlighting the names of the guests and the tables where they will be seated. This is a nice touch that your guests will definitely appreciate.
  • Suppliers food: take in account that also the suppliers you selected for your wedding need to eat, so order some additional meals and pay for them in advance. You do not want to deal with this issue during the wedding reception.

Catering for wedding

  • Music list: provide a detailed music list to your DJ or music band, include songs that you love it and that are meaningful for you and let them understand what are your favorite music genres. Specify to your music vendor the song you want him/her to play and when. I am referring to your reception’s entry music, your first dance song for instance. Also take in account your guests’s music tastes if you want them to have fun.

As you can see planning a wedding is a huge thing and sometimes is not easy at all to have every detail under control. Try to make lists of things you should look into and ask for help! That’s one of the best tip we can give you, always have someone, such as a wedding planner or a family member or a friend, able to look into these details with you. Four eyes see more than two!

The Ultimate Guide To 2019 Wedding Cake Trends

Turron wedding cake

Eating cake at a wedding reception is something that will never go out of style! The wedding cake is en essential part of a wedding celebration, it has to be a beautiful cake, ideally in line with the wedding theme and at the same time it has to be delicious, let’s say as delicious as it looks! In the last couple of years we saw several cake trends, very far away from the idea of the white and classic 3-tier wedding cake. We have seen unique creative ideas, such as the naked cake for 2018 weddings. The aim of this blog is to focus on the latest 2019 wedding cake trends for the upcoming wedding seasons. So if you are planning to get married soon, get on board and read this article, which we consider the ultimate guide to 2019 wedding cake trends.

Wedding Cake

-Colourful cakes: the use of colors is definitely a new trend for wedding cakes. You will see intense or light colors, such as blue, green, pink, coral among others on cakes this year. It is also common the use of hand-painted cakes, especially for cake covered by fondant. The use of gold and metal details is becoming a trend again this year as well, also black fondant cake are common this year. So in other words colors are a must! Our tip: stick with your wedding color palette!

-Geometrical shapes: another trend is to use geometrical shapes instead of the classic rounded cake. For instance it will be easy to find 3-tier squared, rectangular or hexagonal cakes. Or you will also find structural and contemporary design with geometrical details on it.

-Flower details: wedding cakes are now topped with real flowers arrangements, greenery and foliage, the use of edible flowers is also very common.

-Non-traditional wedding cakes: another trend for 2019 wedding is to have cake in line with a country traditions, basically no-wedding cakes. For instance we plan wedding in Peru and it is very common that bride and groom ask for a traditional Peruvian dessert made as wedding cake. This is happening more and more often everywhere. So, get rid of fondant or buttercream, and go for a delicious pavlova, a turron de Doña Pepa cake, a classic sponge cake with whipped cream or an Italian millefoglie.

-One-tier cake: forget the high wedding cakes construction, 3, 4, 5 tiers of cakes. This year will be very common to have simple one-tier minimalist wedding cake. Simple doesn’t mean boring taste or decoration. If you are afraid that a one-tier cake will not be enough to feed all of your wedding guests, you can have a bigger cake inside of the same flavors and taste to slice and serve.

lllOne-tier wedding cake

-Alternative cakes: the use of other elements instead of real cakes, such as donuts or macaroons towers are also very common this year. Also the cheese cake is a real trend this year, with the cake tiers made with actual wheels of cheese topped with fresh fruits. The cheese wheels cake is a good option for couples who are not into sweets, served this fromage cake with jams, fresh fruits and nuts.

-Letter cakes: this is also a new trend for 2019 weddings. So opt for bride and groom’s initials shaped cakes topped with fresh cream/whippedcream/creamcheese (this is actually up to you) and decorate with fresh fruits or flowers.

Letter cakes

Remember that choosing your wedding cake is a very important decision of the wedding planning process. All your guests will be eager to have a slice of cake at the reception and the cake cutting is a very important moment of your wedding day, a memory taht you’ll cherish forever. Also some additional tips: think about using a selection of wedding cake photos to show the cake designer and make sure that he/she has understood your idea and schedule a cake tasting few months before the wedding to make sure that the combination of flavors is the one you are looking for.

Bridemaids’ Duties on the Wedding Day

Bridemaids

In a previous article we spoke about Bridesmaids’ duties before the wedding event, you can find it here (http://blog.sayidoinperu.com/bridemaid-pre-wedding-duties/) al our tips.

Here we try to figure it our what are the bridesmaids’ duties for the actual wedding day, what are the specific tasks you should perform if you have been asked to be a bridesmaid for your friend’s wedding and you have no idea of what you can do to help and support her on this special day. Think of it about the ultimate checklist for Bridesmaids’s wedding day duties.

W0369 Chiquita Green 0307

So after supporting the bride during the wedding planning process, the wedding shower and wedding side-events your job hasn’t finished yet, there is still the big day with the wedding ceremony and the reception to go. So be ready to be there for the bride! Here a list of duties for the wedding day:

  • Try to keep a calm and happy atmosphere among the other bridesmaids and the bride throughout all the day: this is extremely important since your friend will need your emotional support on the wedding day, remeber that she will be nervous!

View More: http://maikdobiey.pass.us/wedding-annamarco

  • Try to be on-time for the bride’s hairdresser and make-up artist appointments, it could be at the saloon/spa or at her house or ceremony venue, but be there on time.

View More: http://maikdobiey.pass.us/wedding-annamarco

  • Prepare an emergency kit for the bride; this should include tissues, lipgloss/lipstick and other make up she might need during the day for a touch-upa sewing kit in case of last minute dress retouches or for any wedding dress problems may arise, quicksilvers are also essential in my experience and very practical. Also, include in the kit some basic remedies, such as aspirin. It is important to be prepared!

braidmaid duty 2

  • Do not forget the snack and a bottle of champagne for the bride and the other bridesmaids while you’re getting ready. This is very important also for creating a relaxing atmosphere before the ceremony.
  •  Get dress and ready before the bride to help her into the bridal gown. This is one of the nicest moment for the pre-wedding photography session, so make sure that the photographer is there to document this special moment.

View More: http://maikdobiey.pass.us/wedding-annamarco

  • During the ceremony keep an eye on the bride’s veil, it should be placed in the right way (depending on the veil usually it could go on a side or in the aisle) for the photographer to take great pictures. Seat in the front by the bride’s side and be ready for the procession back out at the end of the ceremony.

Bridemaid with bride

  • Be prepared with the wedding party to enter the reception area right before bride and groom once you are announced. So do not get lost during the cocktail hour, nobody wants to look for you in that moment and bride and groom won’t be eager to wait for you!

View More: http://maikdobiey.pass.us/wedding-annamarco

  • You might need to give a speech after bride and groom arrival at the reception venue, this actually depends on the bride’s choice. So be prepared for it and have your speech ready before the wedding day, considering that this day you will probably have no time to organize your idea and write down something. You can note down on a piece of paper your ideas or on your cellphone, or just memorize it. It is up to you!

View More: http://maikdobiey.pass.us/wedding-annamarco
