Terracotta Wedding Inspiration

Terracotta tones are one of the 2022 wedding trends, which means that we will see many desert tones, dusky pinks and several shades of brown and toffee in wedding decoration this year. Usually, a terracotta wedding is ideal if you have in mind a boho wedding, those colors really suit the boho style.

Let’s start with the bridesmaids’ dresses. You have a wide range of options to explore: from light brown to an intense rusty color, from dusky pinks to a light rose, from sand color to light orange. You have many different tones that you can also mix up together to create a multiple tones effect.

2022 needs to be a year full of joy for all, after what we have been living in the past two years, that is why we need to start planning beautiful and fabulous events again. Our work and research of the latest wedding trends never stops and we want to share with you the latest wedding color palette trends.

Monochromatic weddings: just go for one color and use it for every décor element. This is certainly an unexpected and original choice for a wedding event. You can also play with different tones of the same colors. If you want your wedding to be elegant use a soft tone such as pastel blue, a blushing rose or sand color, sage green, light mauve among others. These are colors associated with the ideas of tranquility, relaxation, optimism and hope.

Rust and terracotta tones: they are warm colors, very original for wedding celebration, especially for rustic wedding in beautiful haciendas or country villas. Dark orange and terracotta tones are widely used also for boho weddings in association with white tones.

Are you planning a destination wedding in Peru? Are you dreaming about having a fun wedding with a real Peruvian touch? That’s the article you’ve been waiting for. It’s a carnivalesque min-bush which lasts for approximately one hour of the reception party. You will see dancers, still walkers, other performers and a lot of props, such as sparkly masks, colorful hats and boas, oversize glasses and ties, glow sticks and much more. This actually depends from the theme you choose for your “hora loca”. The Dj will select the best party songs and wedding guests will start approaching the dancefloor…a real fun moment!

AFRO-PERUVIAN SHOW: In Peru there’s a big afro-Peruvian community living in Chincha area, they are descendants from Africans who were enslaved and brought to Peru after the arrival of the Spanish “conquistadores”. That’s why the Afro-Peruvian culture is a big part of our cultural idiosyncrasy and our cultural essence, especially when we think about their dances, their music, their cuisine. That’s why is very common to have an engaging Afro-Peruvian show with captivating music and great dancers, which will make you move your body and feel your soul.

MARINERA SHOW: Marinera is a traditional Peruvian dance from the coastal area of the country. It’s a romantic couple dance with a specific choreography and beautiful traditional costumes, which uses handkerchiefs as props. It’s so popular that there are several Marinera’s school all over Peru, to keep alive the old traditions. Marinera has been considered the National dance of Peru. Having a marinera show during your wedding is a great way to entertain your guests and make them know a real part of Peruvian culture and folklore.

CABALLO DE PASO SHOW: This is a perfect show for Hacienda wedding, many haciendas have their own Peruvian Paso horses and the show is usually part of the service they offer. The Paso horses are ride by chalanes, the iconic Peruvian horseman dressed up with a white poncho, boots and a big hat, who traditionally raises Paso horses in Peru. The chalanes will lead Paso horses through the show with a Marinera soundtrack.

DANZA DE LAS TIJERAS SHOW: The Scissor dance is a folkloric dance original of the Peruvian Andes, actually the southern area of the famous mountain chain. Usually there are two or more dancers, dressed in traditional outfits embroidered with golden fringes, little mirror and colorful sequins, who dance in turns doing specific moves, also challenging since they also dance with one foot with a pair of polish iron rods in their right hand. They are accompanied by the music of a violin and a harp. The dancers cannot enter a church with their traditional outfits, since it is believed that their great physical ability and athletic skills come out from a pact they made with the Devil. The Scissor dance more than a simple dance is a ritual, and it has been inscribed in the Representative List of the Ingible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2010.

The Ultimate Wedding Catering Check-list

Choosing your wedding caterer is a very important decision. Always remember that when it comes to food for your special day you must think twice before making a decision, and firstly you must taste the food. Food is essential for wedding reception, it is something that your guests need to enjoy, so have a big eye opened on this during your wedding planning process. Remember that the food has to be delicious and mouth watering for your special day!

Also, keep in mind, that usually your wedding caterer will not only provide the food for the reception, but they will also supply the tableware, silverware, they will stock the bar and manage the flow of the lunch/dinner.

Here a list of things you should consider when it comes to wedding catering:

Are you looking for a specific kind of food for your wedding event? If this is the case just select a little group of caterers that can provide that food. For instance if you opt for organic food, or vegan food or only fresh/raw food, or fast food style meal, or food trucks style meals, etc. These are filters you should definitely apply in case you have clear the kind of food you want to offer to your guests.

Once you are almost sure on your caterer decision, start asking for references. It is important that you understand what kind of chefs they have in their staff, as well as the waiters they have, how do they handle last minute issues (there are always issues to solve when it comes to wedding), what are their management and planning skills, among others. If there are negative comments on one or more of these elements, do not choose this catering company and keep searching the perfect one for your event.

Make a decision on the kind of meal you want to serve. Do you prefer a served meal or a buffet style one? This decision is important for your caterer, it makes a big difference in terms of organization, equipments and also for your budget.

Once you book the catering supplier, always revise the contract carefully before signing it. And try to negotiate some items if you do not fully agree with them well in advance.
Have a tasting included on the final price you are paying. It is your right to taste all the food they are going to serve on your wedding day free of additional charges, from the appetizers to the desserts.

If you are planning a destination wedding it is important that you consider that your guests coming from abroad would love to taste traditional food of the country you have selected for your wedding, so include some traditional dishes, but still do not forget to include some basic continental-style dishes that your guests are familiar with, in case they are not brave enough to try a foreign dish.

Do you have people with food allergies, vegan guests, vegetarian guests, guests who can only eat gluten-free food or no diary food? You should comunicate well in advance this to your caterer and provedie special menus.
Are there kids? Prepare a list for your caterer so that he/she can supply enough meals for kids, including french fries, hambueguers, pasta, pizza, basically things that kids love and eat pleasantly.

Prepare a list of beverage and cocktails you want to serve to your guests and make sure that the bar is properly stokked based on the number of your confirmed guests.

Ask your caterer to have some late night snacks ready and coordinate with them the exact hour you want them to serve the snack. The snack could include little hamburguers, french fries, or some kind of little canape. This is totally up tou you and your caterer skills.

Always keep in mind that without good food, any celebration is basically incomplete. So have a big eye open on the catering choice during your wedding planning process.

Dessert Table is Becoming a Must Have!

If there is something I have clearly understood in the last years as wedding planner is that an amazing wedding cake, displayed in the right way, rounded by other mini-desserts, cupcakes, chocolate truffles, macarons, cookies and more will seriously impress your guests. A well done dessert table, with the right selection of sweets, the appropriate decoration will become the most frequented spot of the reception. People will look at the sweets as child thinking on which sweets to pick. Among them you can opt for cupcakes, truffles, cookies, cake pops, macarons, candies, jelly beans, little tarts, chocolate bars, etc.

Here few tips:

* Personalize your dessert table, based on guests’ tastes and yours as well. For instance if you are into chocolate, go for chocolate truffles, little chocolate cookies, chocolate cupcakes, chocolate cake pops etc.

* Balance the selection of desserts with the wedding cake flavor. If you opted for a chocolate cake, avoid to choose more chocolate sweets.

* Use decoration in line with your color palette. If you selected green tones, use green elements on top of the desserts, for the frosting tones, for the cupcakes wrappers, for the tray, the dessert labels, etc.

* Use cake stands, tiers servers, pedestals and plates of different sises but try to find a sustantial armony in the entire design idea of the table.

* Use inedible elements just as backing or at the sides of the table, such as balloons, paper rosettes, ribbons, flower arrangements, etc.

* Nice to have: a little coffee and tea station next to the dessert table, take-away boxes, so that your guests can decide to take away some of the desserts adn/or a piece of cake.

Considering that we are in Peru, give your dessert table a special twist adding Peruvian traditional sweets, such as “alfajores” and “suspiro a la limeña”.

How to Plan Your Wedding Without Flowers

We all know that flowers are always related to wedding and to ceremonies in general, but I had brides and grooms that really were not into flowers. I am also not a big flowers fun, but I understand that in some occasions it is inevitable to use flower decorations. The majority of us thinks that weddings are one of those occasions, but it is not like this. If you do not want to use flowers, you should be creative and use other items to create visual effects. That is why today I want to give you some no-flower decoration ideas for your upcoming wedding celebration!

1. Candles: use candles as centerpieces, try to create a centerpiece with different sizes of candles, better if are of the same color or different tones of the same colors. For example, use five candles of different shades of green or blue. Always stick with your wedding colors palette. You can also use candelabrum or little clear glass vases, to give to your table an elegant touch.

2. Balloons: use plenty of balloons! I really love the effect of balloons, they create a bohemian and vintage effect if you select the right colors! Try to use pastel colors (light pink, light yellow, light red and blue) if your goal is to have a bohemian wedding celebration. The effect will be awesome! You can even create balloon backdrop or decorate a specific corner of the reception area with them.

3. Origami/paper flowers: this is a real trend for 2018 wedding celebration. Use an origami centerpiece or create paper flowers to use as centerpiece! Paper decoration is a great option to use instead of real flowers. Once again, try to stick with your color palette, use different shade of the same color for origami. You can also create lines of origami secured with twine and hang them around the reception area.

4. Shells: if you are having a beach wedding, use shells as main decoration elements. For instance, you can create a nice centerpiece with shells of different sizes and colors combined with sand in a glass vase.

5. Fruit & spices: you can also consider decorating your table with fresh and dry fruits or spices, you can use pine cones, pomegranates, grapefruit, lemon, berries, cinnamon stick, star anise…you really have many options here!

6. Pins: use pins instead of traditional boutonnieres for the groom and bestmen! This is really a trendy alternative to flower boutonnieres.

7. Vegetable/Foliage bouquets: you can opt for a “veggie bouquet” for your wedding, use cabbage, kale, cauliflowers or use foliage, pine cones and berries. You can have a no flowers bouquet and still be chic, do not worry! ?

The Flash Mob, a New Trend For 2018 Weddings

The 2018 wedding season is open and we are starting collecting information on the new wedding trends! I noticed that the flash mob culture has extremely increased last year and bride, groom and their guests are starting to work on wedding flash mob all over the world. Yes, I used the word “work”, considering that this is something you need to prepare and rehearse several time before the wedding day. As wedding planner, I know that usually weddings are all about timing, there is a very specific schedule that must be followed in details. So I understand that introducing a flash mob would be unconventional for most of you. But this is not impossible, of course what you can do is calculating the timing, and preparing it very well before the wedding day.

It could be a bride organizing a flash mob to surprise his husband, or the other way around, or the family and friends who want to surprise the newlyweds. Generally there are bride and father of the bride flash mob, bride and bridesmaids or groom and bestmen flashmobs, etc. Sometimes also bride and groom want to do something different for their first dance and ask some enthusiastic guests to join them for a flash mob. What I know is that everything needs to be perfect! Putting together a wedding flash mob requires patience, time spending on preparation, at least a couple of months, and some athletic skills as well. The result would be a spectacular and unforgettable moment for you and your guests!

Here some tips I can give you on planning the perfect wedding flash mob:

– First of all you need to do an inspection to check your wedding reception venue. It is essential that you see the spaces, if the reception area is too small, check if there is a garden area outside. At some point of the celebration you can ask people to go out to see firework for instance, but once outside they will enjoy another kind of show for sure! 😀

– You need to choose the song. It is very important to choose a captivating melody! It could be a hit or a song that has a special meaning for you both. But nothing too romantic or too sophisticated, people must recognize immediately the song and most importantly have fun!

– Be committed to practice the choreography for at least a couple of months! You can starting by reviewing video tutorials and learn the steps, this is something all the people involved should do before practising all together. You can also produce your own instructional video, so that people can start the work at home autonomously! A flash mob is all about coordination, musicality, sync and precision, so practising it is often the key to succeed.

– Be sure that all the people involved keep the secret! A flash mob is obviously most spectacular with the surprise factor; that way you can see people chatting at the bar and after 30 seconds running on the dancefloor to join the choreography. Perhaps you can use a secret word that once pronounced loudly can “unleash hell”! 🙂

– If you have hired a videographer, let him know about the flash mob, the time and ask him to keep the secret! This way he can be in the area and film everything.

– Most importantly, choose the right people for your flash mob and do not force your guests into it if they do not feel comfortable taking part in it. People need to be enthusiastic about the experience and have fun. Remember that if you are enthusiastic and happy while dancing, people around you will be too.

Why Should I Get Married In Cusco?

Couples who decide to get married in Peru always have many questions since it is highly probable that they do not the country at all or at least one of them has never been to Peru. One of the main questions is “what are the real advantages of getting married in Cusco?”… Well the answer is easy: it is one of the best and most charming places in the world!!! Hihihihihi I know this sounds quite reductive and biased, so I will try to elaborate a little bit my idea giving you a list of pros about getting married in Cusco.

1. First of all you have to consider the city itself. Cusco is a charming city in the southern region of Peru, in few words we could say that you can breathe the very essence of Peru there! Getting married in Cusco basically means having the real Peru destination wedding! Walking in the street you can find around the corner a traditional woman with a baby alpaca in her hands, a man in traditional clothes playing the pan flute, or an old lady selling coca leaves right across the street.

2. You will have beautiful wedding photos. I can guarantee that your pre-wedding pics and post-ceremony sessions will be amazing. You can have a beautiful photo right in front of Cusco’s cathedral in the main square, you can also have photos in Sacsayhuaman, I think you should ask for a special permit for that, but still … you can do it! The sky in Cusco is sooo blue, with beautiful clouds and the sunlight is perfect for taking photos. So if the wedding photography item is very important for you, Cusco is definitely the option.

3. If you are thinking about a destination wedding in Peru I think you are expecting your wedding guests to come over and attend the celebration. I am pretty sure that when you announce your wedding in Peru our guests will be very happy, considering that this will be an opportunity to travel to one of the best travel destination ever. Peru has always been a touristic destination for travel lovers, who have dreamed about hiking Machu Picchu, walking around Cusco’s archeologic sites or sipping a coca tea to prevent altitude sickness. So your wedding will be the perfect occasion for them.

4. There is Machu Picchu “around the corner”. Everybody knows that if you go to Peru you cannot miss Machu Picchu, the ancient Inca citadel located in the Urubamba river Valley at about 80 kilometres from Cusco. So, Cusco is the place to be if you want to visit Machu Picchu, you have to take a train which must be booked in advance and do a bit of logistic coordination (That’s another topic that deserves another article for sure), but still is the closest and most convenient place to reach Machu Picchu. If you want to make sure that your guests attend your wedding celebration abroad, then choose Cusco.

5. Money money money…that’s always the big issue when it comes to wedding planning. If you opt for getting married in Cusco your budget will significantly decrease, compared on getting married in the United States or in one of the other wedding destinations, such as the Bahamas, the Barbados, Jamaica or the Mexican coast. I noticed myself the difference while I was doing a bit of research on catering and decoration suppliers in the United States and Bahamas for my wedding. I can ensure you can plan the wedding of your dreams with a much lower budget than the one the same wedding could cost in the United States, Italy, France or another famous wedding destination. I think this is an enormous and important pro to consider.

6. Cusco is one of the most famous wedding destinations in Peru, also Peruvians love to get married there. Therefore, the great advantage is that local suppliers are extremely experienced when it comes to wedding planning processes and they can give you precious advices, considering that they perfectly know the venues located in the area, the infrastructures, the tools to use, where to find the right materials, they know everything about the weather, etc. All of those details are very important, and the knowledge of the place is essential when it comes to problem solving skills. Local suppliers are always the best, if you like to play on the safe side! And in wedding playing on the safe side is crucial!!!

The Best Moments of our 2017 Weddings

Every year is a blessing for me, every year I met amazing couples and I helped them realizing their wedding dreams. That is why I really love my job, since I believe it is extremely meaningful. At the end of every year I try to play rewind and analyze what I’ve achieved so far! I actually found it very useful, and it is a way to start the new year with a new and enriched perspective, thanks to all the lessons learnt in the past months. We organized several great wedding celebrations this year and I am sooooo thankful for this opportunity. Organizing a wedding is always a chance to learn something new: nobody is perfect and fully experienced guys! Even if I am a “control freak” when it comes to wedding planning, there is always something new and different in each and every wedding planning process.

Here a list of the best moments of our 2017 weddings celebration:

I really enjoyed organizing this wedding in Lima, which was the first wedding of the year! I loved the moment of the speeches, I found it extremely emotional and it was so nice to see how bride and groom were rounded by the love of their families and friends! Sometime giving the floor to an old friends or a parent could be very formal and cold, but this time was totally the opposite! Family members and friends did it brilliantly, they were grateful to be part of that moment, they were sincerely happy for the new marriage and it was fantastic to see how much they loved bride and groom. I admit that there was a moment in which I was almost crying, but then I put myself together and I kept working.

Another memorable moment of this years’ weddings was a beautiful ceremony in a charming chapel located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. The venue was outstanding and all the guests were amazed by the location. That was a perfect venue choice for the kind of wedding bride and groom were dreaming about. They dreamed about a rustic wedding with a boho/vintage style and the result was THE WEDDING for them and their guests! People party hard even under the rain, the atmosphere was extremely cheerful and you could breathe love all around! I am so grateful that the event turned out great and that all the guests enjoyed themselves.

Another beautiful moment from this year weddings was an elopement in the Sacred Valley, in a private villa located in Pisac. The intimate atmosphere and the simplicity of the decoration made the event unforgettable and extremely romantic. I should say that the background and the amazing landscapes really fit the main purpose of the celebration, which was celebrating love in a sophisticated and intimate way. I love elopements since they are the purest celebration of love!

So now I am focusing on my 2018 weddings, I know it will be hard as always but my job is extremely rewarding and I love it! I am pretty sure I will experience other special moments this upcoming year.

In this article I want to introduce you to the 2018 bridal collection designed by one of the most passionate and celebrated designers in the world: Oscar de la Renta. The creative directors for this collection were Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. The dresses showcased at the Bridal fashion week last April were beautiful, timeless and heavenly, with delicate flowers and plants elements, such as ferns, petals, foliage and leaves embroideries, reflecting the typical Oscar de la Renta style. Delicate touches, floral patterns and feminine shapes are the unquestionable marks of Oscar de la Renta’s style. To mention one of the designer most famous quotes: “I like light, color, luminosity.
