Five Welcome Table Ideas

The most challenging issue for modern bride and groom is to have some original and special element in their wedding. Originality and brand new ideas are valuable when it comes to wedding celebrations. Never forget that! Welcome table is a very important decoration element for your event, considering that it is the first decoration your guests will bump in when they enter the reception area after the ceremony and we can say that it’s the first impression they get of your wedding. So be very careful about the items, such as tablecloths, frames, letters, flowers you place on it and the color palette you use, that obviously need to stay in line with your color palette.

Here I will give you few tips and suggestions to have a unique and creative welcome table for your special day:

1. If you are deeply attached to some items, a box, a musical instrument if you are both musicians for example, you can definitley make this object your guestbook. Your guests can sign the item, write their best wishes and dedicate you some nice words. This is a customized option and you will definitely have a valuable memories of your special day.

2. Another nice idea is to have a frame filled with little wooden heart-shaped pieces. Your guests can sign one of the little heart and perhaps include a little inscription for you and place it inside the frame. This is an original idea, ideal for rustic wedding, where wood is the main decoration element. This is actually a more romantic idea compared with the first one I gave you above, once you have this frame you can hang it up on the wall of your newl-weds home.

3. Another funny idea is to use Jenga blocks, so that your guests can sign a block and place it on top of the structure. Try to choose a jenga with clear blocks, this way would be easier for your guests to write on them. If you use a colourful jenga provide sharpies of different colors (clear and dark colors).

4. Another creative idea is to create a puzzle out of a nice photo of you both. Your guests could sign a piece and try to assemble the pieces of the puzzle to reach the goal of having a portrait of you. This way you will have a personalized puzzle for the rest of your life, it will be a very nice memory of your wedding celebration.

5. A very creative idea is to place on your welcome table a guestbook that your wedding guests can sign it, but a part of the classic inscription, you can put a polaroid camara and adhesive tape at the side of the book, so that your guests can take an instant picture of them (like a selfie or any other funny pic), stick it on the guestbook and write something for you. This is basically a modern version of the traditional guestbook. Also, another suggestion I have is that you can have one or two strings between two trees or poles where your guests can hang up the funniest pictures of the event. This way you will definitly have funny memories of your wedding!

Our Secret Weapon: The Wedding Schedule!

One of the main question I got from the couples deciding to get married in Peru, mainly foreign couples, is: “How can you plan a destination wedding if we are not phisically there?”. My ansiwer is usually simple and straighforward: “do not worry, the wedding schedule will save our life!” 😀

After so many years of activity in this crazy destination wedding industry I have understood that the best way to keep track of everything is, a part of being organized (that’s the basis), to consolidate the information in only one document. That’s exactly the key for successful destination wedding in my opinion.

Me and my team are able to consolidate any piece of information about a destination wedding in a pioneering file that we call the “Wedding Schedule”, let’s say the Say I Do In Peru Wedding Schedule, since we developed this file in-house. In the wedding schedule we include information regarding the wedding ceremony, the reception, and any other wedding-related event, but most importantly we do it by going deep into details. For instance: “What’s the color of the flowers for the reception’s centerpiece?”, “How many bottle of champaign for the toast?”, “What is the song for the bride and groom’s first dance?” and much more. Every piece of information about your wedding is there, and nothing will be a surprise this way. As long as there are surprises your friends and family are planning for you and we do not know about it! We have learnt that everything is possible in wedding, and we always have to be prepared for any incovenience. So there is always space for surprises!

What are the best pros of using the Wedding Schedule for your destination wedding?

*You have every piece of information in one document, and you can easily find the information you are looking for.

*It allows you to go deep into details and keep adding specs and information. This is really up to the couple, it depends on how deep they want to go during the planning process.

*It is a great way to keep timing under control. For instance, if the ceremony lasts 40 minutes and it starts at 4:00 pm, there is no way the reception can start 4:30 pm. Having a clear timeline is a must in wedding.

*The couple can make several changes to the wedding schedule until the final version is issued. Once we close the wedding schedule, this will be the script of your wedding.

*The couple and the wedding planner know exactly what is going to happen at a specific time and how it is going to happen. So it is easy to keep everything under control, especially on the wedding day.

*We reach our main goal to fulfill bride and groom’s expectations by delivering exactly the wedding they were dreaming of.

*It is an effective way to avoid any misunderstanding that could arise during the planning process.

I tried hard to find some cons to the wedding schedule, however I could not find one. Perhaps having everything under control can make the wedding planning process a bit less romantic, or a bit less spontaneous. But since we are talking about the most important day of the couple’s

Tips For an Outdoor Wedding Celebration

What are the key elements that we cannot miss for an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception? After planning and designing weddings I always take a moment to reflect and think about my job, what I could have done better and what I actually did pretty well. So, after designing several outdoor wedding celebrations I came out with a list of must-have items for a beautiful and memorable outdoor reception!

Here a list of things that you should not forget to include during your outdoor wedding reception planning process:

Lighting: Is there anything must valuable and important than lighting for an outdoor reception? My answer is NOOOO! It is essential to have your lighting well put in place for the dining area, the dancefloor, the cake table and the bar. If you get married at sunset or right before that and the party will last until dawn it will be dark soon and you need to have your lighting well set and also a back-up plan in case something happens. A generator could be a solution to all your problems sometimes. So make sure you have a generator available in the venue.

Tent: this is actually optional in case you are hosting your wedding during summertime and you know it is not going to rain! In other words you really need to be unlucky to get the only rainy day in summer… but you never know, bad things happen…so I always suggest a tent. For other seasons I believe it is mandatory to have it. In summertime, you might consider to have a tent to provide some shade for your guests, in case of high temperature, you do not want to leave your guests under the sun. However you should always try to place your ceremony in a shaded area.

Refreshment and water: If you are getting married in spring or summer time, it will probably be quite warm, so provide refreshments for your guests, especially men if they are required to wear a suit.
Umbrellas: Have a stash of umbrellas ready for your guests, in case of rainy day. You do not want them to get wet, especially if they have a wedding reception and party to attend.

Blankets: Have blankets available for your guests, in case of high humidity and low temperatures. This depends from the seasons. If you get married in spring, temperature would likely drops at night, so blankets are a must-have.
Plastic heels protectors: In case you are getting married on grass, just distribute heels protectors for your female guests.
Ice: If you are getting married during summertime, do not forget to have plenty of ice available for refreshments, some cold food, fruits and more.
Flowers: try to place your flower decorations just one hour before guests’ arrival, they could get ruined under the sun.

Insects: call a professional company specialized in keep bugs away, do this 3-4 days before the event.
Place a basket with the following items in the bathroom could be useful for your wedding guests: Bug spray, flip flops of different sizes, Suntan lotion, first aid kit.

Four Basic Tips For a Rustic Wedding

Rustic wedding are always extremely charming; to achieve the perfect atmosphere you have to take care of every little decoration details. Here some deco elements that you can consider:
An outdoor ceremony is a must if you want a rustic style wedding. Use a white and simple tent with flowers details.

You can also use centerpieces with a natural style like garden flowers, wrapped with twine, combined with other elements such as lanterns or little candles.

A nice and simple wedding cake covered in white fondant and red ribbon with flowers details placed on a wooden tray.

You can also add some other elements such as bicycles with flowers decoration, blackboards, carriage and simple glass jar filled with colorful flowers hanged on an iron hooked stick.

Red and White Wedding Inspiration

A red and white wedding never goes out of fashion because red is the color of passion and romance and it is quite glamour to use it for a wedding reception. Here some snapshots from one of our wedding celebrations where red and white were the colors selected for the occasion by bride and groom.

The bride opted for a classic bouquet with red and white flowers wrapped with a thin white ribbon. This is a very simple and elegant bouquet, ideal for an intimate outdoor wedding. Be sure to have everything ready before picking the flowers for your bouquet because this needs to be in line with all the other decoration elements of your wedding.

The wedding cake was very simple, a 1-tier cake covered in white fondant and topped with little red flowers decoration and wrapped with a tiny red ribbon made of fondant. Due to the rustic style of the wedding we decided to place the cake on a wooden base, and to add two little glass vases on the table.

A part from the wedding cake bride and groom decided to have some red velvet cupacakes topped with white fondant and a little red flower. They were soooo cute!

To keep going with the red details, the table setting had several red accents: you can see the napkins and the little flowers centerpiece, which brings a romantic atmosphere to the rustic reception ballroom. It is important to stick with little decoration elements if you choose strong colors such as red, otherwise it could be way tooooo much.

Wedding Inspiration in The Sacred Valley

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of organizing a very special wedding celebration in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Bride and groom had a rustic wedding in mind since the very beginning of the planning process and I had so much fun putting together all the pieces of this amazing rustic-style event.

Choosing the venue wasn’t so easy since there are soooooo many wedding venue options in that area that could fit their expectations, and all of them are “rustic-style oriented”. I come up with this expression myself now! hihihihi 😀

The venue chosen is conveniently located in the heart of the Valley, has a colonial architectural structure, a beautiful courtyard, a charming chapel and the stunning Andean mountains on the background. The first thought I had was: they will manage to have amazing pictures here, therefore everlasting memories of this special moment!

Also after selecting the perfect venue for them (actually also for me) we started looking into all the specific details related to decorations, furnitures, bride’s bouquet, wedding cake, music, etc. All the details you should consider in the wedding planning process. The decorations were mainly in wood, the centerpieces were amazing with foliage, white Hydrangeas, mini Chinese roses in a glass vase wrapped with twine on a wood base and white candles in little glass vases.

Bride and groom loved the idea of signs, so they decided to use them to point the reception area for the guest. As decorative elements we also used little slates for the bar and the welcome guests table. The tent they choose was white with rustic details in the inside mainly made of raffia and beautiful fairy lights hanging from the roof. As decoration we used an old bike and old wooden furniture. The result was an amazing atmosphere, soft and cozy lighting and elegant decorations.

The bride’s bouquet was lovely! The bride opted for an airy bouquet with greenery, foliage, white roses of different sizes, all perfectly assembled.

The cake was a 2-tier almond cake filled with milk chocolate cream and covered by buttercream…absolutely delicious! Also the cake was in rustic style with twigs in chocolate and topped with some greenery.

As in any traditional Peruvian wedding there was also a special time dedicated to the famous “Hora loca”. The couple chose a traditional Peruvian theme, with character from Peruvian traditions, such as the Guinea Pig, two typical Andean characters called “maqtas” and a stilt walker.

Overall I really enjoyed the planning process for this wedding, looking into all the details, the decorations, the lighting, the old furniture. And the best part is that everything run smoothly that day! Bride, groom and all the guests really enjoyed their time in Peru and I am sure they went back home with some great memories and a desire of coming back to Peru soon.

In this article I want to introduce you to the 2018 bridal collection designed by one of the most passionate and celebrated designers in the world: Oscar de la Renta. The creative directors for this collection were Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. The dresses showcased at the Bridal fashion week last April were beautiful, timeless and heavenly, with delicate flowers and plants elements, such as ferns, petals, foliage and leaves embroideries, reflecting the typical Oscar de la Renta style. Delicate touches, floral patterns and feminine shapes are the unquestionable marks of Oscar de la Renta’s style. To mention one of the designer most famous quotes: “I like light, color, luminosity. I like things full of color and vibrant”.

The white jumpsuit with a big lace at the back definitely caught my eyes; this outfit could be perfect for an intimate and informal wedding.

Here a charming deep V-neck dress with awesome embroideries of floral details. Deep V-neck is definitely a pattern of this 2018 collection.

I madly loved this veil with flowers details, it looks so airy.

All the dresses in this collection are extremely feminine and they perfectly reflect Oscar de la Renta’s style.

Top Four Churches in Lima to get Married

One of the main issues for bride and groom getting married abroad is choosing the perfect church for their wedding ceremony in Peru. Before picking the right church they will have to consider different elements:

Location
Appearance
Cost
Distance from reception venue.

Since I generally receive so many requests of information about churches in Lima I would like to share with you some information I collected during these years working as wedding planner. I believe this post will be extremely useful if you are in the process of selecting the church for your wedding ceremony in Lima. Here my top four!

SAN FRANCISCO CHURCH

This church is located in the historical center of the capital nearby the main square (Plaza de Armas). The church structure is a great example of Spanish baroque architecture, which you can feel from the beautiful façade. It is not easy to get a sport to officiate a wedding in this church since once the time schedule is open for booking there are many requests and you might need to go there and make your queue early in the morning to get a specific time and a specific day. Otherwise you will have to accept the availability they have left. There is a high demand for this church, since it is very traditional and a beautiful place to get married. The church is open from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, you can bring a chorus or a string quartet but they need to play religious music at least for the mass, no religious music is allowed for the bride’s entrance and for the exit. Price to get married in this church is SOL 1000.00 as for 2016, price might have changed since then. You need to make an initial payment of SOL 300.00 to book the date and time and the final payment needs to be made at least three months before your wedding.

NUESTRA SEÑORA DE FATIMA CHURCH

This nice church is located in the heart of Miraflores district, along Lima’s Malecon. This is a big building and usually is used for big wedding, approximately 150-250 people attending, since it is hard to fill up all the space. The façade of the building is of a clear cream color and once you get in you will be amazed by the spacious and airy naves. A big pro of choosing this church is that it is located nearby a beautiful park, where you can go to take picture before or after the ceremony. I can guarantee that the photos at sunset in the park with the ocean view are beautiful! Also, this church is conveniently located in the heart of Miraflores, in case you choose to have the reception in this district is a good choice. Price to get married in this church is SOL 1600.00 if you want to rent the parish hall for a small refreshment and SOL 1450.00 without the parish hall as for 2016, prices might have changed since then. You need to make an initial payment of SOL 1050.00 for the church and the parish hall and SOL 850.00 if you choose only the church to book the date and time. Price includes background music, flower arrangements in the altar and the carpet.

NUESTRA SEÑORA DEL PILAR CHURCH

This church is located in the heart of Lima’s business district: San Isidro. The façade of the church shows a majestic neocolonial style and create a nice contrast effect with the modern building located nearby. The altar is decorated with a beautiful altarpiece from the XVIII century in baroque style. The airy central nave is a beautiful architectonical example of neocolonial style. Another feature that we need to remark is the wonderful stained glass window, which will catch your look. The church is quite big and is perfect for weddings of about 100-150 people. Price for the ceremony is USD 750.00, which also includes the parish hall. You need to make an initial payment of USD 400.00 to book the date and time.

EL SAGRARIO CHURCH

This Church is located in a beautiful position between Lima’s Cathedral and the Palace of the Archbishop on the city’s main square called “Plaza de Armas”. It is a little church with only one aisle, covered by a barrel vault ending in a little dome. In the church we can find a part from the main altar, five altarpieces dedicated to different saints and the baptistery. It is ideal for intimate wedding celebration. The marvelous façade is an example of baroque style. Price to get married in this church is SOL 1000.00, which also includes flower arrangements, red carpet and lighting. You need to make a no refundable initial payment of SOL 400.00 to book the date and time.

Another tip to picking the bouquet is the height of the bride; you don’t need to use a big or heavy bouquet if you are not tall, try to find a bouquet size according to your height.

The way you going to carry the bouquet, the size and shape are very relevant, we can choose between classic bouquets, cascade bouquet, round bouquet, posy, etc. for example if you want to take it very relaxed you can chose a classic or posy bouquet.

You need to know that the bouquet is one of the most important accessories for your wedding, so be sure to have everything quite ready before picking the flowers for your bouquet because this needs to be in line with all the other elements of our wedding (dress, decoration, colorpalette, centerpiece, etc.)
