Romantic Wedding in The Sacred Valley

Peru detination wedding

A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to be part of a very special wedding celebration in the heart of the Sacred Valley. The venue of the event is one of the best places in the Sacred Valley, has a colonial architectural structure, and stunning Andean mountains around it. The Ceremony area was in a charming garden with a grand tree in the background.  We absolutely loved the ambiance as it was so romantic and beautiful.  The guests were truly amazed by the view and the intricate details of the whole event.

Wedding in Sacred Valley
Selecting the perfect venue for this couple was just the beginning.  We made sure that all details planned ahead of time were included. When planning a wedding with a couple that has never seen their venue in person, the most important thing is that we recreate the perfect setting and even more important recreate their expected dreams for decoration and make sure that every little detail was considered. The theme for this wedding was romantic and dreamy, so we chose an outdoor ceremony in a flower-filled garden.  To enhance the experience, the outdoor ceremony also included a tent or “huppah” with flower details that combined with the bride’s bouquet and the wedding’s color palette.

Wedding in Cusco
For the reception, the Bride and groom opted for rustic-chic decoration paired with vibrant color centerpieces with red, yellow and orange roses. The centerpieces were arranged using a natural style, like a garden with foliage in a gold vase. The ceiling had a beautiful white tent paired with gold string of lights.  The bar was made of wood simply decorated with light and flowers in a vase.

Wedding cake
For many couples, the wedding cake is an essential part of the wedding celebration. The use of colors is definitely a new trend for wedding cakes. For this wedding, the cake was very important, the couple chose a 2-tier cake covered by fondant and it was hand-painted with gold touches. The cake was placed on the dessert table on top of a wooden base and surrounded by orange flowers.

Wedding bouquet

The bride´s bouquet was lovely! The bride opted for an airy bouquet with orange roses of different sizes and green touches of nature, all perfectly assembled. Many times, the flowers in the bouquet define the centerpieces and this was the case in this wedding.  Everything had a delicate balance and looked great.

Overall, I really enjoyed the planning process for this wedding, looking into all the details, the decorations, the lighting, the romantic style of the wedding. The Bride, groom and all the guests really enjoyed their time in Peru and I am sure they went back home with some great memories.

The Best of Our 2018 Peru Destination Weddings

beautiful wedding

2018 has been a great year for us, actually a very busy one! We planned many destination weddings and elopements in Peru’s main destinations, such as Cusco, Sacred Valley and Lima. We had the opportunity to be part of amazing wedding celebrations, rustic, classic and boho weddings, romantic wedding proposals, charming elopements and Andean ceremonies in the mystic atmosphere of the Sacred Valley. We experienced the very essence of love and we are extremely grateful to the couples who chose us as wedding coordinators.

Say I Do in Peru started the year working on a rustic-style destination wedding held nearby Lima. This wedding was a great success for us, the first of the year and felpe us adquire the confidence and the right spirit for the following months. Decorations were amazing and we really enjoyed setting up all the rustic details, such as wooden tables, wooden signs, blackboards, the beautiful flowers decorated swing and all the beautiful and scented flower decorations all over the reception area. What we really loved of this wedding was the desserts table with little sweets, such as lemoncard tartelets, cupcakes, little “suspiro a la limeña”, chocolate truffles, chocolate popcakes and a beautiful naked cake in the middle of the table. We also loved the reception area, with the wide dancefloor and the lighting all over it.Rustic style reception -minRustic style centerpiece and swingCatering rustic style-min (2)Party, Rustic StyleCredits: Tahuano Photography

We were also part of an emotional wedding proposal this year, this kind of events are quite new for us, but this year we started planning Peru wedding proposals as well and we are very happy about this new chapter. This wedding proposal was held in an amazing beach house at south of Peru’s capital city. The atmosphere we created was extremely romantic, with a path of red and white rose petals that brought the couple to a beautiful oceanfront patio, where the actual proposal happened. Of course there was a live music soundtrack, with a singer and an acoustic guitar and a small catering service with champaign for the toast. Nothing better than a romantic beachfront wedding proposal!

In April we had the chance to plan another outdoor destination wedding in a stunning venue, this time the couple opted for a villa overlooking Lima metropolitan area. From the villa´s grounds you could enjoy a beautiful Lima’s skyline, the view was really amazing. The villa has a beautiful outdoor area with a quite large swimmingpool (of course at the end of the party all the guests and the newlyweds jumped in the swimming pool!). What we loved about this wedding was the amazing reception table, a long rectangular table for about 50 people with a beautiful flower arrangements. All the decorations were very neutral, with white flowers and wooden elements. There were also an amazing cheese table and a dessert table with a naked cake as well. The topper of the wedding cake was sooooo cute, the real cherry on top of the cake.Amazing venueA long rectangular table -min (1)Cheese table-minbeautiful lights for your weddingfun with weddingsCredits: Danae Soch Photography

We were also part of several Andean ceremonies in 2018, mostly celebrated in Cusco or in the Sacred Valley. Usually there is a shaman with two assistants celebrating this kind of mystic ceremonies. This is a very spiritual moment and also very intimate. We have organized elopements (just for the couple) and intimate ceremonies as well, only for few guests, usually direct family and close friends. The setting is folkloristic, the use of Peruvian traditional and colorful fabrics is the “leit motiv” of the event, and the traditional clothes of the shaman and his assistants contribute to create a very traditional atmosphere as well. We talked about Andean wedding ceremonies in details in a previous article.Andean Ceremony decorationCeremonia andinaAmazing Andean CeremonyAndean ceremony in a beautiful landscapeCredits: James Aragon Photography

We kept organizing wedding proposal this year, we had another one in a suggestive vineyard, located in the central area of Peru, few hours south of Lima, in Ica region. The couple loved wines and the husband to be really wanted to find an evocative place with a beautiful landscape to get engaged, so the Vineyard was the perfect spot for them. We loved being part of this event!

One of the main destination for weddings in Peru is obviously the Sacred Valley, a charming and mystic place where you can breath the real essence of Peru. We had a Jewish destination wedding there in july with amazing decoration. The venue is literally merged into the wild nature of the valley, saying beautiful doesn’t give justice to the magnificence of the landscape we enjoyed there. Decorations were really elegant and classic, the huppah was decorated with white flowers and white fabric on the top, bridesmaids chose elegant burgundy dresses for the occasion. The colors white and burgundy really matched well together. For the cocktail area the couple opted for a beautiful refreshments table with Peruvian traditional details, hanging lanterns with flowers decorations, a wooden bar and live Andean music band as soundtrack. Also for the reception the burgundy color was a must have, just have a look at the flower centerpieces, they were amazing, a touch of color under the beautiful and immacolate tent. The bar chosen was amazing as well. The reception was held under an elegant white tent, with a big chandellier at the center. Everything was definitely on point.

In july we had another charming wedding in the Sacred Valley, this time it was an intimate Andean ceremony under a very clear blue sky. The ceremony background was amazing, the Andes chain really creates a stunning scenary, perfect for amazing wedding photos. We loved the lighting of the tent, the wedding cake made of cupcakes (this was a very original choice) and the elegant flower decorations.

We closed the year with a traditional Peruvian destination wedding in an oceanfront villa nearby Lima. The couple opted for traditional Peruvian decorations, with Peruvian fabrics, colourful flower arrangements, little llamas decorations, Peruvian-style embroidered tote bags as guests favors, a traditional “turron de doña pepa” cake. All the decoration details were amazing! The venue was actually one of our favourite venues, a Romane empire style villa located on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, you basically get married merged in the Ocean breeze and in a classic atmosphere. I can ensure you that the feeling of getting married there is amazing.

Those are just few of the celebrations of love we planned this year, there were much more weddings, elopements and unbelievable emotions we lived. We are deeply grateful for our job and we hope our couples will charish everlasting memories of their wedding celebrations.

However, we need to go back to reality now, since we have to get ready for this 2019 wedding season, which is already full of new destination wedding adventures, new venues to be discovered, new couples to meet and much more. This year we have to cope with a lot of planning and coordination work as well to make our couples wedding dreams come true, and we cannot wait for it!

A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to be part of an amazing wedding celebration nearby Lima. The venue of the event is one of the best we have ever seen in Lima area. It is a beautiful Roman Empire style house located on a rock in front of the Pacific Ocean, few kilometer south of Lima city. The ceremony area was basically a cliff on the Pacific Ocean and all you have in front of you was the immensity of the sea. We loved so much the atmosphere of this event we planned, we were totally merged in a special setting rounded by the Ocean breeze! Guests were deeply amazed by the view and the outstanding details of the wedding event.

We know that for many destination weddings guests coming to Peru from abroad have high expectations on the event and the trip abroad. They are excited for the wedding event itself plus they have a big curiosity of learning more about the Peruvian culture and meeting local people. That’s exactly what happened during this event, a lot of good energy and vibes coming from the guests who really wanted to have fun in a traditional Peruvian style setting.

Bride and groom opted for Peruvian decorations, in the traditional vibrant colors: yellow, red, blue, green, pink and purple. We included colorful fabrics for the buffet table, the dessert table and the cheese table, colorful flowers in high vases as centerpieces, Peruvian red, orange and yellow aji peppers and native potatoes bouquets as flower decorations, cascading pompoms inside the reception tent, little llama as table nametags and Peruvian fabric embraided tote bags as wedding favors in perfect Peruvian style. So, every elements of the decoration was perfectly in line with the main theme of the event: a Peruvian style destination wedding!

The food was also in line with the theme: little “tamales”, baked potatoes with “ocopa” sauce, steamed rice with corn and parsley, “aji de gallina”, “lomo saltado” among other traditional dishes. The perfect celebration of Peruvian traditional “criolla” cuisine!

Bride and groom also wanted to include a very special cake, a part from their three-tier classic wedding cake. They decided to have a two-tier “turron de Doña Pepa” cake, which is a sweet traditionally eaten in October, the month of the “Señor de los Milagros”, a holiday month in Peru. This delicious sweet is made of anise cookie bars and a sticky delicious syrup and topped with candy sprinkles. It is an explosion of tastes, highly addictive…I can swear! ?

It was such a privilege for us to be part of such an amazing celebration and we loved all the planning process, since we felt that we put together a perfect Peruvian traditional wedding with a very special modern touch.

The Flash Mob, a New Trend For 2018 Weddings

flash mod

The 2018 wedding season is open and we are starting collecting information on the new wedding trends! I noticed that the flash mob culture has extremely increased last year and bride, groom and their guests are starting to work on wedding flash mob all over the world. Yes, I used the word “work”, considering that this is something you need to prepare and rehearse several time before the wedding day. As wedding planner, I know that usually weddings are all about timing, there is a very specific schedule that must be followed in details. So I understand that introducing a flash mob would be unconventional for most of you. But this is not impossible, of course what you can do is calculating the timing, and preparing it very well before the wedding day.

credits: Primetime

It could be a bride organizing a flash mob to surprise his husband, or the other way around, or the family and friends who want to surprise the newlyweds. Generally there are bride and father of the bride flash mob, bride and bridesmaids or groom and bestmen flashmobs, etc. Sometimes also bride and groom want to do something different for their first dance and ask some enthusiastic guests to join them for a flash mob. What I know is that everything needs to be perfect! Putting together a wedding flash mob requires patience, time spending on preparation, at least a couple of months, and some athletic skills as well. The result would be a spectacular and unforgettable moment for you and your guests!

Here some tips I can give you on planning the perfect wedding flash mob:

– First of all you need to do an inspection to check your wedding reception venue. It is essential that you see the spaces, if the reception area is too small, check if there is a garden area outside. At some point of the celebration you can ask people to go out to see firework for instance, but once outside they will enjoy another kind of show for sure! 😀

flas mod with bride

– You need to choose the song. It is very important to choose a captivating melody! It could be a hit or a song that has a special meaning for you both. But nothing too romantic or too sophisticated, people must recognize immediately the song and most importantly have fun!

– Be committed to practice the choreography for at least a couple of months! You can starting by reviewing video tutorials and learn the steps, this is something all the people involved should do before practising all together. You can also produce your own instructional video, so that people can start the work at home autonomously! A flash mob is all about coordination, musicality, sync and precision, so practising it is often the key to succeed.

– Be sure that all the people involved keep the secret! A flash mob is obviously most spectacular with the surprise factor; that way you can see people chatting at the bar and after 30 seconds running on the dancefloor to join the choreography. Perhaps you can use a secret word that once pronounced loudly can “unleash hell”! 🙂

credits: Michael Justin Studios

– If you have hired a videographer, let him know about the flash mob, the time and ask him to keep the secret! This way he can be in the area and film everything.

– Most importantly, choose the right people for your flash mob and do not force your guests into it if they do not feel comfortable taking part in it. People need to be enthusiastic about the experience and have fun. Remember that if you are enthusiastic and happy while dancing, people around you will be too.

Finally, just try to have fun, learn some new dancing skills and deliver the best performance of your life! Be sure that your guests will be amazed and fully entertained on your special day. They will cherish everlasting memories of your wedding celebration now and forever!

All You Need to Know on Andean Ceremony

andean ceremony

Peru, especially Cusco and the Sacred Valley region, is famous for the spiritual side of its natural elements, such as the mother hearth, the water and the wind, and for the very special cosmogony of the Incas. Indigenous people from the Andes have kept alive the ancient Inca spiritual traditions, and while traveling there you can feel this mystic atmosphere in the air. I am sure you have heard about the “Pachamama”, which is the mother heart for the indigenous people from the Andes. She represents the female side of the divine and she is considered the fertility goddess who nourishes plants, harvests and natural elements in general. On the other end we can find the Apus, the male side of the divine word for Incas. The Apus represents the mountain spirits that protect people against any kind of enemy. This is the Andean duality of the Inca cosmogony, which is fascinating and based on few basic principles: respect for nature, importance of the divine and holiness of natural elements: water, land, fire and wind.

beautiful ceremony andean

The all idea of the Andean wedding is to unify bride and groom with the “Pachamama” or in case of vows renewal to reaffirm your marriage before the Andean goddess. The union has been performed before the Andean goddess so it is impossible that a human being can dissolve it. I wrote more on the issue here a couple of months ago:

andean ceremony in cusco

If you are looking to get married with a very special ceremony, that you and your guests will remember forever, an Andean ceremony is the choice you should made. When couples look for something spectacular, I always suggest them to consider this spiritual ceremony, since this is a special occasion to live an extraordinary experience with their loved ones and to confirm their love before Incas gods.

elements for andean wedding

The officiant is a shaman who will guide you through this special path until the end of the ceremony. The shaman is an extremely important element of the ceremony and it is essential that bride and groom create a special connection with him. The day before the ceremony you need to meet the shaman and go to the local market to buy several elements and tools that you will need for the wedding ceremony. Usually a pair of sandal for the groom, a scarf, traditional clothes and accessories, coca leaves, flowers and some food to offer to the gods, basically seeds, beans and candies. Once you buy all this, you are set to get married before Incas goddess.

wedding in the sacred valley perfect

As for the settings, we usually suggest you to opt for a charming and characteristic venue in Cusco or the Sacred Valley, rounded by the Andean mountains that will add special spiritual vibrations to your ceremony or Incas ruins. So be careful when choosing the venue, it has to be as charming and fabulous as the ceremony itself.

Other important element is the music! What I usually suggest to couples is to have a little group of musicians playing traditional Andean instruments such as the “Quena”, that is a notched-end flute, the “antara” or panflute, which is the most recognized and popular Peruvian music instrument worldwide, the “pomatinyas”, which are little drums covered by animal skin, among others.

private wedding in cusco

After the ceremony you can have a little reception with your guests and enjoy the experience you have just lived. I can ensure that your guests will be amazed and very impressed by the ceremony. Usually couples who opt for an Andean ceremony want intimate and private weddings, and sometimes they just want to elope without any guests, and live that moment in complete privacy.

There is so much we can say to describe the beauty and the magnificence of this special ceremony, many words can be uses, but I believe that the only way to understand completely what I am talking about is to live it.

Why Should I Get Married In Cusco?

cusco the best wedding

Couples who decide to get married in Peru always have many questions since it is highly probable that they do not the country at all or at least one of them has never been to Peru. One of the main questions is “what are the real advantages of getting married in Cusco?”… Well the answer is easy: it is one of the best and most charming places in the world!!! Hihihihihi I know this sounds quite reductive and biased, so I will try to elaborate a little bit my idea giving you a list of pros about getting married in Cusco.

venue cusco

1. First of all you have to consider the city itself. Cusco is a charming city in the southern region of Peru, in few words we could say that you can breathe the very essence of Peru there! Getting married in Cusco basically means having the real Peru destination wedding! Walking in the street you can find around the corner a traditional woman with a baby alpaca in her hands, a man in traditional clothes playing the pan flute, or an old lady selling coca leaves right across the street.

tradittional wedding in cusco

2. You will have beautiful wedding photos. I can guarantee that your pre-wedding pics and post-ceremony sessions will be amazing. You can have a beautiful photo right in front of Cusco’s cathedral in the main square, you can also have photos in Sacsayhuaman, I think you should ask for a special permit for that, but still … you can do it! The sky in Cusco is sooo blue, with beautiful clouds and the sunlight is perfect for taking photos. So if the wedding photography item is very important for you, Cusco is definitely the option.

cusco wedding

3. If you are thinking about a destination wedding in Peru I think you are expecting your wedding guests to come over and attend the celebration. I am pretty sure that when you announce your wedding in Peru our guests will be very happy, considering that this will be an opportunity to travel to one of the best travel destination ever. Peru has always been a touristic destination for travel lovers, who have dreamed about hiking Machu Picchu, walking around Cusco’s archeologic sites or sipping a coca tea to prevent altitude sickness. So your wedding will be the perfect occasion for them.

beautiful wedding

4. There is Machu Picchu “around the corner”. Everybody knows that if you go to Peru you cannot miss Machu Picchu, the ancient Inca citadel located in the Urubamba river Valley at about 80 kilometres from Cusco. So, Cusco is the place to be if you want to visit Machu Picchu, you have to take a train which must be booked in advance and do a bit of logistic coordination (That’s another topic that deserves another article for sure), but still is the closest and most convenient place to reach Machu Picchu. If you want to make sure that your guests attend your wedding celebration abroad, then choose Cusco.

sacsaywaman wedding

5. Money money money…that’s always the big issue when it comes to wedding planning. If you opt for getting married in Cusco your budget will significantly decrease, compared on getting married in the United States or in one of the other wedding destinations, such as the Bahamas, the Barbados, Jamaica or the Mexican coast. I noticed myself the difference while I was doing a bit of research on catering and decoration suppliers in the United States and Bahamas for my wedding. I can ensure you can plan the wedding of your dreams with a much lower budget than the one the same wedding could cost in the United States, Italy, France or another famous wedding destination. I think this is an enormous and important pro to consider.

colourfull wedding

6. Cusco is one of the most famous wedding destinations in Peru, also Peruvians love to get married there. Therefore, the great advantage is that local suppliers are extremely experienced when it comes to wedding planning processes and they can give you precious advices, considering that they perfectly know the venues located in the area, the infrastructures, the tools to use, where to find the right materials, they know everything about the weather, etc. All of those details are very important, and the knowledge of the place is essential when it comes to problem solving skills. Local suppliers are always the best, if you like to play on the safe side! And in wedding playing on the safe side is crucial!!!

So what are you waiting for? Come to Peru and get married in Cusco with us!

The Best Moments of our 2017 Weddings

best wedding

Every year is a blessing for me, every year I met amazing couples and I helped them realizing their wedding dreams. That is why I really love my job, since I believe it is extremely meaningful. At the end of every year I try to play rewind and analyze what I’ve achieved so far! I actually found it very useful, and it is a way to start the new year with a new and enriched perspective, thanks to all the lessons learnt in the past months.  We organized several great wedding celebrations this year and I am sooooo thankful for this opportunity. Organizing a wedding is always a chance to learn something new: nobody is perfect and fully experienced guys! Even if I am a “control freak” when it comes to wedding planning, there is always something new and different in each and every wedding planning process.

Here a list of the best moments of our 2017 weddings celebration:

wedding speech

I really enjoyed organizing this wedding in Lima, which was the first wedding of the year! I loved the moment of the speeches, I found it extremely emotional and it was so nice to see how bride and groom were rounded by the love of their families and friends! Sometime giving the floor to an old friends or a parent could be very formal and cold, but this time was totally the opposite! Family members and friends did it brilliantly, they were grateful to be part of that moment, they were sincerely happy for the new marriage and it was fantastic to see how much they loved bride and groom. I admit that there was a moment in which I was almost crying, but then I put myself together and I kept working.

Another memorable moment of this years’ weddings was a beautiful ceremony in a charming chapel located in the heart of the Sacred Valley. The venue was outstanding and all the guests were amazed by the location. That was a perfect venue choice for the kind of wedding bride and groom were dreaming about. They dreamed about a rustic wedding with a boho/vintage style and the result was THE WEDDING for them and their guests! People party hard even under the rain, the atmosphere was extremely cheerful and you could breathe love all around! I am so grateful that the event turned out great and that all the guests enjoyed themselves.

Another beautiful moment from this year weddings was an elopement in the Sacred Valley, in a private villa located in Pisac. The intimate atmosphere and the simplicity of the decoration made the event unforgettable and extremely romantic. I should say that the background and the amazing landscapes really fit the main purpose of the celebration, which was celebrating love in a sophisticated and intimate way. I love elopements since they are the purest celebration of love!

So now I am focusing on my 2018 weddings, I know it will be hard as always but my job is extremely rewarding and I love it! I am pretty sure I will experience other special moments this upcoming year.

Red and White Wedding Inspiration

wedding cake

A red and white wedding never goes out of fashion because red is the color of passion and romance and it is quite glamour to use it for a wedding reception. Here some snapshots from one of our wedding celebrations where red and white were the colors selected for the occasion by bride and groom.

bouquet

The bride opted for a classic bouquet with red and white flowers wrapped with a thin white ribbon. This is a very simple and elegant bouquet, ideal for an intimate outdoor wedding. Be sure to have everything ready before picking the flowers for your bouquet because this needs to be in line with all the other decoration elements of your wedding.

read and white inspiration

The wedding cake was very simple, a 1-tier cake covered in white fondant and topped with little red flowers decoration and wrapped with a tiny red ribbon made of fondant. Due to the rustic style of the wedding we decided to place the cake on a wooden base, and to add two little glass vases on the table.

read and white decoration
A part from the wedding cake bride and groom decided to have some red velvet cupacakes topped with white fondant and a little red flower. They were soooo cute!

venue

To keep going with the red details, the table setting had several red accents: you can see the napkins and the little flowers centerpiece, which brings a romantic atmosphere to the rustic reception ballroom. It is important to stick with little decoration elements if you choose strong colors such as red, otherwise it could be way tooooo much.

Sometimes, picking the bouquet could be an issue! Don’t know what to do or what to choose? Don’t worry, here I give you some useful tips that you better keep in mind while planning your wedding!

BOUQUET FOR YOUR WEDDING

A main element you should consider before picking your wedding bouquet is the style of your wedding celebration: will it be romantic, bohemian, rustic, classic? For example if you choose a rustic wedding, the perfect bouquet must include colorful wildflowers and twine, if you choose a romantic wedding, you can use white and light pink roses and for a bohemian wedding you can use an eye-catching bouquet with field flowers, feathers, leaves, branches and spikes.

BOUQUET FOR YOUR WEDDING 2

Another tip to picking the bouquet is the height of the bride; you don’t need to use a big or heavy bouquet if you are not tall, try to find a bouquet size according to your height.

BOUQUET FOR YOUR WEDDING 3

The way you going to carry the bouquet, the size and shape are very relevant, we can choose between classic bouquets, cascade bouquet, round bouquet, posy, etc. for example if you want to take it very relaxed  you can chose a classic or posy bouquet.

bouquet

You need to know that the bouquet is one of the most important accessories for your wedding, so be sure to have everything quite ready before picking the flowers for your bouquet because this needs to be in line with all the other elements of our wedding (dress, decoration, colorpalette, centerpiece, etc.)
